My name is Evan LaPorte and I am a painter living in New Bedford, Ma. I am a subjective painter concerned with formal issues, however I am not concerned with accurate representation. I am focused on honest translation and the creation of images informed by my hand, my history and my observations. The artists hand, the history of mark making and the process are my primary focus when creating an image. This page is an opportunity to share my paintings and some of my inspirations.

Still Pluggin
I've been working on some small oil paintings about 12" square on panels and paper on panels. A series of three Dartmouth bonfires and a series of 4 landscapes from found references. I started 4 canvases about 32" square drawings with conte and gesso that will get oil when I eventually get up the nerve. I have been working a number of Gouache studies from these drawings and hopefully will include these in my submissions for the NBAM show.
