My name is Evan LaPorte and I am a painter living in New Bedford, Ma. I am a subjective painter concerned with formal issues, however I am not concerned with accurate representation. I am focused on honest translation and the creation of images informed by my hand, my history and my observations. The artists hand, the history of mark making and the process are my primary focus when creating an image. This page is an opportunity to share my paintings and some of my inspirations.

I did go to David's show @ Colo Colo, I took pictures of the opening and can't get them off my camera!!! So I apologize. That being said, Congratulations to David for a strong showing. His work consists of paintings, prints and assemblages. His paintings are packed with energetic brush work, saturated with electric color and slashes of gold leaf. His abstract compositions peppered with iconographic innuendo's are a far cry from his past life as a formal landscape painter. David has thrown himself body and soul into his current body of work and anyone who has spent time with him can quickly tell that his paintings are an honest extension of his beliefs and personality. If you live in New Bedford you may have already seen the show. If you haven't or you live outside of the city get over to Colo Colo for some eye candy.
