My name is Evan LaPorte and I am a painter living in New Bedford, Ma. I am a subjective painter concerned with formal issues, however I am not concerned with accurate representation. I am focused on honest translation and the creation of images informed by my hand, my history and my observations. The artists hand, the history of mark making and the process are my primary focus when creating an image. This page is an opportunity to share my paintings and some of my inspirations.

Back To West Island

This morning the sky was grey, and it pushed around the moisture in the air just enough to get inside your skin to chill you. The water agitated up to a modest chop. The sounds of the water, wind and sea grass drowned out anything mulling about in my brain. It allowed me to push back thoughts of work, impending deadlines and other grey clouds inside me. It felt great to get out in the weather and draw.
